When you enroll in an online Master of Business Administration program, you know it is going to take time, money and discipline to achieve your goal. And as you chart the path to earning an MBA, admission is, of course, the first step in your journey.
Is the GMAT Mandatory?
The Graduate Management Admission Test, or GMAT, is mandatory for admission to most business school programs. The four-part test includes an analytical writing assessment as well as sections that measure integrated reading, quantitative and verbal capabilities.
“The GMAT exam measures higher-order reasoning skills,” according to MBA.com, the official website of the GMAT. “You’ll need basic English-language and math skills. However, the test measures your ability to reason with these skills. All sections of the test involve reasoning. Higher-order reasoning skills involve complex judgments and include critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving.”
Prospective MBAs may have some concerns about taking the GMAT, which lasts 3.5 hours and costs $250. Test anxiety, fear of failure and limited budgets can all determine if a student will actually enroll in an MBA program.
At Fitchburg State, there is no GMAT requirement for admission to the online MBA program. So that’s one less hurdle to overcome in pursuit of your degree.
