Career Highlights:
I am an experienced school administrator with talent and integrity and over 30 years in public education. As an experienced classroom teacher, assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction and assessment, and Superintendent of Schools, I understand the opportunities, challenges, and demands of being a teacher and leader in schools today. I have high expectations for the quality of instruction and successful learning outcomes for all students. As a leader in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment for grades PK-12, I have successfully worked with all stakeholders.

What do you want your students to take away from class?
My philosophy of education is that all learners can be successful and are active participants in their learning. I guide, instruct, and assist all learners in accepting themselves for who they are, as well as embrace the diversity of others. I provide a safe environment where learners can take risks and share ideas.
When did you start teaching?
I started teaching at Fitchburg State University in 2006.
What advice would you give to your online students?
An online student needs to be organized and disciplined to follow the syllabus, participate in the online discussion boards, and manage their time effectively.
What qualities make someone particularly successful in education?
In the field of education, students need to be the center of all the instruction. It is the job of the educator to give all students the necessary tools to be successful in their career choice. Every learner develops their community of learners in the classroom; my role as the mentor, teacher, and advisor is to assist each learner in developing their learning styles. I believe teaching is a lifelong process of learning new strategies, philosophies, and curriculum. I develop individuals to become leaders inside and outside the classroom, enhance the scholarship of education, and enrich the lives of those they serve in their community.

My family is a very special part of my life. We have our first grandchild, Drew; he has brought laughter and joy to our lives.
